Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I use Debian Wheezy with x2go.

I use eclipse 3.8 from wheezy repository

I launch eclipse and i try to open a file (right click + «open»)

Eclipse crash with this error message

The program 'Eclipse' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 5058 error_code 2 request_code 147 minor_code 26)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error()
function.)

Ok i find how fix this problem and it's not a problem with eclipse.

If someone have the same problem you can fix :

In debian Wheezy, «libcairo2-dev» package is installed.

But by default you have version 1.12.2. but since version 1.12.10 we can
see in their bug fix : «Restore support for older versions of XRender. A
couple of typos and a few forgotten chunks prevented the xlib compositor
from running correctly with XRender < 0.10. Note that there are still a
few regressions remaining.»

So you just need upgrade your «libcairo2-dev» package in debian jessie →
Eclipse Works

i have ask to debian that we need backport.

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
@ dev@ange7.com
I've got the same issue with Ubuntu 12.04 and a standalone eclipse
installation though it seems to crash rather randomly a few seconds
after eclipse is started.
Unfortunately, I can't upgrade juste one library (libcairo2-dev) which
has many dependencies without messing around with the system...

So, is there a way to disable xrender extension ? (IIRC there was an
option like that in NX Client) or any other workaround ?

Thanks !

I've found a workaround, just add the following line in eclipse.ini :

-Dorg.eclipse.swt.internal.gtk.cairoGraphics=false
