Message #5 received at submit@bugs.x2go.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: x2goclient
Version: 4.0.1.1-1ubuntu1
When I start IntelliJ IDEA via X2Go serveral problems occure. Often I
just get:
X2Go - 52
The connection with the remote server was shut down.
Please check the state of your network connection.
Note that my network connection is just fine. Everything else keeps
working. Using ssh with X11Forwarding that problem does not occur. I can
restore the session afterwards till the next interrupt happens.
Sometimes the application is in an state where the connection instantly
shuts down when I try to reestablish it. It isn't possible to continue
then and I have to kill the application in order to reconnect with x2go.
The other time X2Go just stops responding. I can't close my application
nor do anyhting with it. I need to kill X2Goclient then and hope I can
restore the session.
And then again sometimes when I restore a session all text is scrambled
in the text editor. I need to stop the application then and restart it.
The described above happens regularly when using java applications. I'm
using oracle java. Server is ubuntu 14.04 with stable X2Goserver
4.0.1.18. Desktop is xfce. It happens running applcation directly and
when I start java apps on the desktop. I tried it with the current
version, too and after having troubles I switched to stable version.
/var/log/syslog and /var/log/cups/error_log doesn't contain anything
suspicous.

What is rootless mode and can i toggle my x2gosession to desktop mode?
In bug report of problem x2go with eclipse
http://bugs.x2go.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=291 [4]
Description solution for normally using eclipse:
> So, is there a way to disable xrender extension ? (IIRC there was an

And...
> I've found a workaround, just add the following line in eclipse.ini :

> -Dorg.eclipse.swt.internal.gtk.cairoGraphics=false
But in phpstorm.vmoptions not exists parameters "cairoGraphics"
(phpstorm unable to recognition that parameter for eclipse)
Please. Help with solve that bug in x2go. Save my time of life (I five
months search another solutions for use phpstorm or intellij idea IDE in
remote x11-sessions. But not luck)

Hi all,
If you are using JDK8, and running the offending program using strace
causes entries like this one:
java.lang.ClassCastException: sun.awt.image.BufImgSurfaceData
cannot be cast to sun.java2d.xr.XRSurfaceData
Then it's not an X2Go bug, it's a Java bug. See
http://bugs.java.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7172749
Many Java programs are affected when run over X2Go.
The only workaround I've found is downgrading to JDK7, where the bug is
not present.
Presumably Oracle will solve it in JDK9, but I don't have the time to
extensively test it.
Hope that helps!
Kind regards,
Miguel

When using IntelliJ this issue can be solved by disabling XRender.
You can do this with the flag
-Dsun.java2d.xrender=false
Simply add this to the <IDEA_HOME>/bin/idea.vmoptions and it works.
Maybe this thread also helps:
