The orig tarballs are indeed Git snapshots and the code base is newer=20=20 than=20the upstream release number given. In fact, the package version=20= =20 contains=20the Git revision hash (shortened) and from that you can=20=20 derive=20what code is actually shipped in the package. The overall idea is to have an easy upgrade path when you want to=20=20 return=20from nightly builds (test test test) back to a stable release=20= =20 build.
